Ray was your usual aspiring inventor, always tinkering around with machines, looking at how they worked. After all it was in his blood, the third generation of the Steam family. One day a package arrived from America. It was sent by his Grandfather Lloyd. In it contained a mysterious ball, blueprints and a note. Not long after the package arrives some strangers from the O’Hara foundation appear at the Steam residence. Trouble is not far behind.

Based in 19th century Britain, Steamboy is one of the most epic Anime films to date. The story takes place around Ray Steam and his challenge to stop greedy scientists and war mongers. REC

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Plot Summary: Fumihiko Matsumaru is an average salaryman with no girlfriend. He invited his colleague Miss Tanaka to a movie but was stood up. Right at the time he was about to toss tickets into a trash can, a cute girl appeared and asked him not to waste those two tickets. After movie and dinner, he escorted her home and found they live in the same neighborhood, yet unfortunately her apartment caught on fire hours later. Having nowhere else to stay, rookie seiyuu Aka Onda moved to Matsumaru’s place, and the two had started a “more than friend but not yet lovers” relationship under the same roof while keeping this secret from their employers.

If you’re looking for a new comedy/drama/slice of life/romance anime to watch then i would suggest this. REC is a great blend of laughs and tears with a cute Nekoki (Cat-Tree) thrown in. Although the series is very short, 9 x 12 minute episodes, it gets alot covered. There is no mindless filler here or episodes where nothing happens. Every episode there is something interesting (more…)

Midori Days (Midori No Hibi)

Seiji “Mad Dog” Sawamura is your typical bad boy high school student, often found daydreaming and staring out of the window; his grades aren’t the best in class. He is also an impeccable fighter with the help of his “devil’s right hand” and has the habit of attracting trouble. Being rejected after confessing your love is never a good thing (after 20 times I may add) and things don’t look any better for our underdog hero Seiji as he wakes up one morning to find Midori Kasugano in place of his right hand. This inseparable couple forms the basis of the 13 episode series and covers the many everyday adventures as they struggle to keep their secret from being discovered.

The characters in Midori No Hibi are varied and somewhat predictable for your standard romance anime. Seiji is the double edged sword, on one hand he is seen by his peers as a fearless and intimidating fighter with no respect for anyone (more…)

Kanon 2006

I’ve added a new catagory, everything in the “Other Review” section are my peices from forums and other sites and not like my other reviews about specific environments. Enjoy!

Now I’ll be honest here, when I first started watching Kanon there was nothing that smacked me as wow! I didn’t see what the majority of the hype was about and why people were raving about it. I thought the animation was ok, but then again what Kyoto product isn’t these days? The soundtrack I though was lackluster and somewhat boring, it just didn’t feel to me like it fitted. I did however enjoy the characters from the word go, while they may have had the generic backdrop their personalities were brilliant from the start.

As time went on and I started watching more episodes the things that I didn’t like at the beginning were slowly ironed out. The animation seemed more fluid in the later episodes than the start, the overall (more…)
