Congo Gum

Just a quick little post today, being caught up in the real world with adult things to do is just oh so fun!

Now over the past few months things have been a little bit volatile in the Anime industry as a whole, I’m talking about Japan, Europe, USA, pretty much everywhere. People have been crapping out metaphoric bricks – Judging by some reactions on some of the forums leads me to believe people are actually shitting bricks – over whether or not their favourite shows and films will be available to buy or not in the near future.

Well unfortunately for anyone wanting some of Geneons old title’s you are now out of luck, time up, game over. Anything with the name Geneon or the giant G is now a part of Anime history.

Some people have this painted as the start of Armageddon. Better start buying up your DVD’s now folks because it’s all down hill from here. Well actually no, it isn’t really. Some people that with death comes life, and generally this applies to pretty much everything we do with our lives. Anime is no different in the way that just because Geneon has vanished for good (who knows?) doesn’t mean to say its all doom and gloom in other markets.

To be honest I was a bit worried when the news started filtering through and I’ll put my hand up and admit I did pre-order Black Lagoon 2 and 3. Kind of like a safeguard if you will. About 3 days later this order was cancelled, primarily because after I bought it I didn’t want to feel like an idiot if it got released into the UK. There’s also the fact that MVM announced that they were picking up both seasons of Black Lagoon.

This also leads me onto my next point. As I said earlier on good things come after “disaster” if you will and I was pleased to find out there was a new Anime publisher opening up shop in the US of A. New Galaxy Anime is their name, selling shows with little to no changes is their game. Their first title release onto the US market is “The Fantastic Adventures of Unico”, a 1981-dated movie directed by Osamu Tezuka.

I wish them every bit of success and check out their website if you want to find more information on them. They seem like a decent bunch and if you are so inclined, chuck a few of your pounds their way. God knows with the current state the dollar is in they’ll take anything you can spare.

Anyway that’s pretty much all I had to say for today, it’s not all doom and gloom is it really? More updates to come soon, still catching up on my huge backlog and watching Angelic Layer.
