This blog was started to put my thoughts and analysis of the environments of Anime and Manga in the public domain. Nothing more, nothing less.
Think of your favourite show or movie, that all time great that beats anything else hands down. Take away your characters, the music, the plot and pretty much all you are left with is the “World” or environment the story unravels in. Now think, what would be different if this wasn’t there. Would it take away from the atmosphere needed to make those characters come alive? Would those amazing spaceships seem somewhat lacking in a poorly designed world?
The great thing about works of fiction is that it gives the author infinite amounts of control and power of the world they create. The styles may resemble a distant planet in the year 3000 or Tokyo in present day and these all interact with the story at hand. What i’ll be doing is looking past the characters and story and looking over the environments our favourite characters live. Can improvements be made? Are they drawn terrible or with a hawk-eyed attention to detail that if you look twice you’ll miss it.
You may agree or disagree with what i have to say, but if it gets you to think twice about the world your favourite characters live and how it can affect them then mission accomplished.
I’ve since taken a more general approach with my writing. I publish articles for various websites, i may include them here at a later date, and to limit this blog to one niche of a niche if you will seems a bit backwards. I still write as formally as ever, it’s good to keep form, but i may change things a little bit more over time.
